When adding charge points to Monta it is important to add them systematically, grouping charge points together in sites where possible. Not only will this allow a clear understanding of their identity but without charge point sites you cannot perform certain functions.
1. Grouping charge points
You can group charge points for various reasons.
Location: If multiple charge points are located in the same place, they can be grouped together.
If you have multiple sites, you can separate charge point groups by location, e.g Group 1: Hammersmith Site, Group 2: Euston Site. This makes it easier to look at the data between sites.
Features: Charge point sites are used to group charge points that are on the same sites in order to apply certain functionalities in the Monta Portal such as:
- Load Balancing: In order to apply Load Balancing charge points must be paired under the same site on Monta Portal. Load Balancing distributes power between charge points on the same site. In other words, Monta automatically divides the available power over the vehicles that are charging.
- SmartQueue: SmartQueue feature enables EV drivers to join the virtual queue at one or multiple charging sites. It allows drivers to get notified when the charge point becomes available for them.
- Installer Page: The Installer page allows you to create jobs for the installers for the site and this is why charge points must be under the same charge point group. You can share installer jobs with external installers by using the public link. The installer can use the page while connecting the charge points to the Monta back end using serial number and check connection statuses.
2. How to create a charge point site?
When adding a charge point to the Monta Portal, you will be prompted to select or create a charge point site.
If it is your first time adding a charge point or you need to create a new site, use the drop down and select " + Create charge point site".
Give the Charge Point Site a suitable name and enter the address where the site is located. Then select "Next".
Tip: When choosing the charge point group name, think of the name(s) which sums up the site e.g location, company name etc. This will make it easier for you to distinguish between different sites if you have more than one.
Once you have completed this step, you have a new Charge point site and it can be used with future charge points that you add.
